“NCS have really filled a gap in the industry by giving proper acoustic engineering support. They do a fantastic job and are in a class of their own among suppliers – looking after everyone in the project chain.

I talk to them during the design process to ensure we get a practical affordable solution that works. Independent acoustic consultants can tend to over-engineer or design impractical systems but with NCS we always come up with a cost-effective solution.

I typically find that half the acoustic attenuators in a project can be ordered off the shelf and half require special engineering. Woe betied us if it’s wrong, being notoriously expensive to fix. So getting it right first time is critical.

NCS have averted a few disasters along the way, resolving project problems without fuss. They are easy to approach and have gone out of their way to help in a very professional manner. They’re always willing to educate people and patiently train new engineers in the art of specifying silencers.

I’ve gained a high level of trust in them as a safe pair of hands to get it right, ensuring value for money for the client. They deserve to be recognised and supported by the industry.

“We work with critical projects like airports, hospitals, and data centres where the acoustics HAS to work at cutover time otherwise we cop big penalties. We’ve gained huge confidence in NCS through some real noise control challenges where so much could go wrong. They accommodate our varying timeframes and even do testing in the middle of the night sometimes.

Neil’s service is fantastic. He’s a properly qualified acoustics consultant and gives us innovative solutions not just a bunch of products. He takes a global view rather than just solving the problem at hand. Once we asked for noise reduction for a particular fan but he looked outside the square and suggested a different fan needing simpler acoustic control which saved us money.

There’s also a great synergy with the vibration isolation expertise they have access to. This served us well with a tricky chiller installation right next to hotel rooms. They’ve also given us a handy program that saves us time finding the right attenuators for simple jobs.

NCS have certainly become one of our key partners for win-win business success.”

“It’s a bit unusual for a project manager, but I have some noise acoustics knowledge from my Opus consulting days, so I appreciate what NCS achieve all the more. Their service is amazing and second to none.

They’ve rescued us on a couple of occasions with acoustic issues and saved us a lot of money. Like when some noise attenuators were stored outside under tarpaulins and suffered water damage (for the Rotorua hospital generator room). But NCS fixed them at the drop of a hat and turned things around within the project timeframe, doing us proud. We were staring up the barrel of $20k liquidated damages per day.

We also had a theatre with extra tight NCS45 noise control requirements involving tight duct corners but could only achieve 58. NCS explained the problem with noise measurements and advised us on how to deal with it using a modified duct design.

They’ve certainly been there when we needed them and I can’t praise their work ethic enough. I’m grateful and pleased to be able to give something back to them with this testimonial.”

NCS are one of the stand out firms in the HVAC industry because they give such great support and not just products. It certainly makes our job easier and we know that the acoustics are going to work even in tight timeframes and at the lowest possible cost.

They’re quite amenable to come and see us to discuss issues or to do noise tests before or after installations and recommend solutions.

Design consultants tend to over-engineer the acoustics based on standard formulas, but NCS have saved us real costs by looking at the specific fans we’re using and finding more efficient ways of doing things while still satisfying the consultants specs.

They may give advice for the builders to do things differently but they often don’t make any direct gain themselves from attenuator sales, but it’s the goodwill that keeps us coming back to them.
